Cancer care review net set to widen

Fears are growing that more patients from the Bath area will soonhave to travel to Bristol for cancer treatment.

A proposal to shift the surgical treatment of some gynaecologicalcancers from Bath's Royal United Hospital to hospitals run by theUnited Bristol Healthcare Trust is awaiting public consultation afterhealth watchdogs expressed concern.

Now it is feared that surgery for head and neck cancers andprostate cancer could be on the move.

Both city MP Don Foster and Conservative parliamentary hopefulFabian Richter are hoping to persuade Bath and North East Somerset'sPrimary Care Trust to rethink the gynaecological cancer move.
