FED: ABARE expects dollar and GDP growth to rise
CANBERRA, April 15 AAP - Growth in Australian real gross domestic product would jump from
three per cent in 1999/2000 to 3.5 per cent for the next four years, with the dollar rising to
72 US cents in the same period, the government's chief commodities forecaster predicted today.
A new report by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE)
predicts GDP growth will remain at 3.5 per cent until 2003/04 before declining to 3.3 per cent
for 2004-06 and then 3.2 per cent for 2006-08.
ABARE then assumes a growth rate of three per cent for the next seven years until 2014-15.
The forecast is made in an ABARE report on Australian energy market developments and
projections expected until 2014-15.
