NSW: NRMA to keep a watch on petrol prices

Motoring giant NRMA says it will be keeping a watch on petrol prices over the Easter weekend.

The company says motorists have complained in the past that service stations raise
petrol prices over the break, because demand is higher.

It says it will be keeping a careful eye on the pumps in Sydney as a result.

A company spokesman says the petrol industry could overcome motorists' concerns about
what's seen as profiteering, by ensuring the reasons for any price changes are transparent.

He says petrol prices in most country towns were well above 90 cents a litre in March
and, in the south coast towns of Bega, Batemans Bay and Ulladulla, petrol was above 95
cents a litre last month.
